Labrador Retrievers are alert and attentive. They will watch their owners until they hear the gun shoot. This is the right time for a Labrador to start acting. It is amazing, yet the dog is capable of remembering the exact place where a bird has fallen. As a matter of fact, Labrador Retrievers have a good memory. Some dogs can retrieve the prey one after another as it has been killed. It is enough to command and the dog will swiftly rush to dense bushes or cold water to bring the game.

These dogs are good in hunting the pheasant and the hare. Yet, their favorite activity is hunting ducks. The dog is happy when it has a chance to exercise its abilities in the pond. The breed is exceptional in retrieving wounded game. It will follow the prey persistently, take it carefully in its soft mouth, and bring it to the owner.

Labrador Retrievers should be trained from an early age. It is important to obedience train the dog at the first months of its life. By the age of nine months, little Labradors can accompany their owners at the hunt. Labrador Retrievers are quick learners and acquire most of hunting skills by the age of twelve months.
